37 people have officially registered to participate in the early presidential elections in Iran. This was announced by the representative of the country's election headquarters, Mohsena Eslami, during a press conference, which was broadcast on the IRIB TV channel.

The headquarters representative also clarified that the majority, 20 out of 37 applicants, submitted documents to the election headquarters on June 2. Among them is former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Among the candidates registered in four days are Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili, former head of parliament Ali Larijani, former head of the Central Bank and the only reformist candidate in the last elections of 2021 Abdolnasser Hemmati, mayor of Tehran Alireza Zakani, the representative of the spiritual leader in the Iranian Security Council Said Jalili, former deputy head of the spiritual leader's administration Vahid Khaganiyan, as well as the only representative of Iranian women Zohreh Elahian, Shiite theologian Mohammad Reza Mirtaj ol-Dini, rector of the University of Tehran Mohammad Moghimi and other politicians who are former or current parliamentarians.

Registration of candidates for the 14th presidential elections in Iran began on May 30 and will last until June 3. Starting June 4, the Council of Guardians of the Constitution will review candidates for a week to determine whether the candidate is qualified for the presidency. The final list of participants will be announced on June 11.

Elections in Iran will take place on June 28.
