To keep children safe: training for social services and law enforcement was held in Ashgabat

On May 30, 2024, the USAID program "Safe Migration in Central Asia" (SMICA) in collaboration with the UNODC conducted a training on preventing child trafficking. The event was dedicated to the upcoming International Children's Day and brought together a diverse group of participants, including representatives from the Prosecutor General's Office, civil society organizations, orphanage staff, the Ombudsman's office, the Youth Union, the Women's Union, and social workers from the Ministry of Labor.

During the training, SMICA presented to the participants a comprehensive educational manual on preventing child trafficking, which includes international legal instruments and effective strategies for combating child trafficking.

A representative from the Ombudsman's office highlighted key actions at the political level, emphasizing the need for holistic protection for vulnerable populations.

The training also fostered discussions on identifying risk factors and vulnerabilities, the crucial role of media in raising awareness, and the importance of coordinated efforts in tackling human trafficking. It served as a valuable platform for stakeholders to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and enhance their collective impact in the fight against this global issue. Through workshops like this, we can work together towards a future where all children are safe and protected.
