Enthusiasts were able to restore the activity of the first search engine Archie on a global scale. It can be accessed on the Serial Port website.

This search engine was created before the advent of the Internet by systems engineer Alan Emtage. At that time, many computers were already connected into physical networks. Much of the data was distributed through FTP file servers, and Archie became the first program of its kind to search through it.

To further promote and license the use of his development, Emtage founded the company Bunyip Information Systems. But this coincided with the emergence of new search engines that met the requirements of the time. As a result, Archie was no longer in demand.

The latest version 3.5 was released in 1996.
