Nguyen Hoang Bao – travelling as a source of inspiration

For Nguyen Hoang Bao, a university lecturer from Vietnam, explorations of new land enriches him intellectually and bring open thinking. Each travel story became the vivid illustration of his lectures in HCMC Industry University.
Inspired by the idea of drawing Vietnamese living in five continents, Bao visited over seventy countries of the world and is going to open the rest of the world.
His ultimate goal is to find and connect Vietnamese all over the world via an online information channel and call for Vietnamese in various countries to exchange information.
Graduating from the Business Administration Faculty of the HCMC Economics University, he had the opportunity to work in domestic and foreign enterprises. But, passion for teaching and travel experience turned Bao to pedagogy.
Recalling his trips to the 73 countries, Bao said that all of them were “extremely interesting”.
He travelled on dangerous paths of Pamir and Karakoram, discovered South America in the Inca’s footprints, visited the ancient city of Machu Picchu in Peru, Jerusalem, residence of the Maasai in Kenya.
However, Bao is mostly impressed with journeys along the Silk Road through Central Asia and the Middle East. This trip lasted two months through Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kuwait, Iran and Pakistan was undertaken in mid 2015.
At each place of destination, Bao usually go to the market, because for him, no matter how developed the economy, the market is a place better showing the culture and characterizing the country of stay.
Along with rich historical sites of Silk Road, Bao observed that the markets, flourished on the ancient trade routes, are busy in commerce as always. The bazaars rich in carpets, spices, silks still can captivated the people, filled in wanderlust.
Despite of difficulties, which imminently occurs in any long trip, Vietnamese traveler warmly noted the hospitality of the local people.
“The experience is valuable for a lecturer like me, providing material to help make my lectures more lively and interesting,” he said. “It is obvious that talking about what you experienced and saw will be more convincing than repeating what you have read in books.”
Now Bao has new plans and map for him is a guide for action. The bold project "Born to Walk in Heaven" is on the table. The great journey will cover 136 countries within 1 000 days and is expected to start this fall. The program will start from the America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and will wrap up in Antarctica.
