Russia and Kazakhstan will expand border roads for the development of the North-South transport corridor
Russia and Kazakhstan intend to expand border roads to develop the North-South international transport corridor.
This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin following a meeting with his Kazakh counterpart Serik Zhumangarin in Kazan.
“We are expanding the roads on our side, and they are expanding on theirs. Ultimately, we will have a high-quality and safe road that will connect not only our countries, but also provide access to others,” Khusnullin wrote on his social network account.
The development of transport and logistics corridors “North-South” and “East-West” involves further unification of the legislation of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to remove barriers to cargo transportation and trade. Within the framework of the Union, an Agreement on a unified transit system of the union is already being prepared.
It is noteworthy that according to the results of the first quarter of 2023, transportation of EAEU countries via the North-South ITC increased by 62%.
