On the banks of the Garagum Canal near Ashgabat, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the State Water Resources Committee have launched a new automated system for metering water flow along this important route.

The development of the system belongs to the “Bosphorus” youth center and the “Garagumderýasuwhojalyk” association. The automated water accounting system will provide the government of Turkmenistan with valuable information on the flows and water intakes of the Garagum Canal.

The data from this system will be fixed and recorded in special software. Information will be available in real time, which will allow the State Committee for Water Resources of Turkmenistan to plan more accurate distribution of water for agriculture, drinking needs and industry.
