Turkmen customs introduces paperless technologies for export and import


A series of meetings between customs department specialists and participants in foreign economic activity of Turkmenistan continues at the Ashgabat city customs office. We are talking about the prospects for the transition to paperless customs clearance in connection with the implementation of the “Single Window” for export-import operations.
Representatives of the State Quarantine Service of the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Association of Livestock and Poultry Industry, the Main State Service “Turkmenstandartlary”, the Agencies “Turkmendemiryollary” and “Turkmenavtoulaglary”, OJSC “Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan”, a number of transport and logistics companies, the Union of Industrialists and entrepreneurs took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, there was heard a report on the implementation of state programs to increase export volumes and the production of import-substituting products, as well as on the activities of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan aimed at promoting the development of the country’s export potential. The agenda of the meeting included innovations in customs legislation, as well as current issues related to foreign economic activity.
Customs officers provided detailed information about the benefits provided by law for domestic exporters and the promotion of the Single Window project for export-import transactions.
A regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission to coordinate this project was also held with the participation of representatives of the customs service, a number of ministries and departments, public associations, participants in foreign economic activity and customs brokers.
The possibilities of the customs service information system were considered, allowing the provision and use of preliminary information on goods and vehicles moved across the border, customs clearance of goods in the export, import and transit mode through the state web portal “Single Window for Export-Import Operations”, which helps accelerate trade turnover and reducing the time of customs operations, minimizing paper documents and improving the services provided.
