On April 18, the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted an election meeting and a business forum of the Committee of Women Entrepreneurs of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Turkic Countries, where Turkmenistan was also represented.

The first chairman of the committee, which is designed to support the entrepreneurial activities of women from the Turkic world, was Sakina Babayeva, President of the Association for the Development of Women's Entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan. She presented a report on the activities of the committee during the presidency of Azerbaijan. The parties exchanged views on various issues and agreed on the venue and date of the next General Assembly of the Committee, as well as a plan for further activities.

Lazzat Ramazanova, Chairman of the Council of Businesswomen of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was elected, in accordance with alphabetical rotation, President of the Committee of Women Entrepreneurs of the CCPTC for the next two years. The third General Assembly of the Committee of Women Entrepreneurs will be held in Astana in mid-October 2025.

Rifat Hisardziklioglu, President of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Turkic Countries and President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, spoke at the business forum of the Committee of Women Entrepreneurs.

He noted that Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkey, which form the Organization of Turkic States, as well as the observer countries Turkmenistan and Hungary, have an economic size of about 1.5 trillion dollars, a foreign trade volume of 1 trillion dollars and a large population of 185 million people. These figures show that the unification of our countries has great economic prospects.

He drew attention to the fact that the volume of trade between the Turkic states is only 42 billion dollars. "It's not even 10% of our trade. However, the share of trade between European countries is 70% of their turnover. In other words, they trade together, grow together and get rich together," Hisardziklioglu said.

"In this context, we attach special importance to the development of women's entrepreneurship. Because in our age, the way to the wealth of countries is to have more entrepreneurs. Look at today's rich and powerful countries, they have achieved this thanks to their entrepreneurs. Because natural resources do not make nations rich, they cannot ensure prosperity for the whole society. Only entrepreneurs can achieve this by making money both for themselves and for their countries," he added.

According to him, over the past 15 years, the proportion of women among all entrepreneurs has doubled and increased from 6 to 12%. Now we are striving to raise this figure even higher. We believe that networking is an important factor in the development of women's entrepreneurship and success in business life. I hope that we can meet again on good days when we will work shoulder to shoulder without diminishing our hope for a better future."

The Committee of Women Entrepreneurs operates under the auspices of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Turkic Countries with the participation of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Hungary.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan upgraded its observer status to full membership in the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Turkic Countries in early March 2024.
