Participants in the international hockey tournament proposed to declare Ashgabat the sports capital of the CIS
The captains of the hockey teams participating in the international tournament, held in Ashgabat from April 15 to 20, sent a message to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The message addressed to the head of state congratulations on the successful holding of hockey competitions with the participation of clubs from 10 countries and wishes for further success in the implementation of initiatives aimed at strengthening friendly and fraternal relations between peoples and the development of international sports cooperation.
“Given that Turkmenistan has become a center for major sports competitions, we firmly believe that it is appropriate to declare the white marble Ashgabat an international sports capital within the framework of such a prestigious organization as the Commonwealth of Independent States,” the message published on Saturday on the Turkmenistan Today website says.
The captains of foreign teams also expressed sincere gratitude for the hospitality and cordiality provided, and the organization of high-level competitions, “held in the spirit of friendship and brotherhood in sunny Turkmenistan thanks to your support.”
