India expresses interest in expanding business ties with Turkmenistan


Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, held a meeting between the leadership of the organization, headed by Mergen Gurdov, and Ambassador of India, Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat.
The parties exchanged views on the state and priority areas of business cooperation between the two countries, noting the existence of opportunities to expand trade and economic ties and diversify commercial contacts.
Also this week, the Indian Ambassador met with Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev.
These visits by the Indian diplomat indicate India's interest in intensifying business contacts with Turkmenistan.
Mutual trade turnover between the two countries is increasing every year, approaching a record level of $200 million. According to the Ministry of Commerce of India, in the 2022/23 financial year, Turkmenistan exported products worth $101.72 million to India, and exported goods worth $90.29 million from India.
Turkmenistan's main exports to India are fertilizers, inorganic minerals, and chemical products. India sells mainly pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, electrical goods, clothing and tires to Turkmenistan.
