Turkmen teachers have been trained by the EU on the development of innovative teaching methods

From April 15 to 19, more than 250 teachers from five Central Asian countries, including Turkmenistan, took part in a week of training events organized by the European Union in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The training introduced participants to SCAFFOLD, a tool designed to help teachers create effective learning activities. This innovative tool consists of a set of 102 flashcards that allows teachers to comprehensively develop and implement educational activities, from planning to evaluation. The set of cards and SCAFFOLD materials are available in all national languages of Central Asia.
This initiative is part of DARYA, the EU's flagship regional project supporting education, youth employment and inclusive skills development in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Further activities after the week in Astana will include training, pilot actions in schools and the dissemination of SCAFOLD in order to reach more than a thousand teachers in Central Asia. In 2024, a regional competition called "SCAFOLD – Competencies for Life" will motivate teachers in Central Asia to integrate SCAFFOLD into their teaching methods.
SCAFFOLD is a tool developed by the European Education Foundation (ETF) and the Joint Research Center of the European Commission (JRC). It helps teachers explore the connections between cross-cutting competencies common to all competency structures, helping teachers identify and group learning outcomes according to learning objectives, available resources, learning space, and duration.
DARYA (Dialogue and Action for Resourceful Youth in Central Asia) is the first EU-funded regional project focused entirely on measures that support inclusive and labour market-appropriate skills development opportunities for young people in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The project with a budget of 10 million euros works on two main levels: national, stimulating the development of quality and inclusiveness in education, training and the labor market in five countries; at the regional level, by strengthening participation and mutual dialogue among the countries of Central Asia. The five-year project (2022- 2027) is being implemented by the European Education Fund (ETF), a specialized agency of the European Union based in Italy.
