Turkmenistan was represented at the international parliamentary conference IPCI in Oslo

The Mejlis of Turkmenistan delegated its representative to the 8th International Conference of Parliamentarians on the Implementation of the Program of Action on Population and Development (IPCI/ICPD), which was held on April 10-12 in Oslo, Norway.
During the conference, measures to solve problems of reproductive health were discussed, and countries’ experiences were exchanged in protecting maternal and child health, protecting women’s rights, principles and methods of achieving gender equality in the Sustainable Development Goals until 2030.
The meeting participants were familiarized with the systematic and consistent activities carried out in Turkmenistan in this area, including at the legislative level and in cooperation with UN agencies, as described by Gurbanmyrat Ashirov, a member of the social policy committee of the national parliament.
The IPCI Conference aims to promote dialogue among parliamentarians from all regions of the world on the implementation of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development Program of Action (Cairo Agenda) and is the only event specifically designed to build a global political consensus on reproductive health and rights to translate into tangible national results in policy, financing and accountability.
The conference was attended by about 300 participants, including more than 200 parliamentarians from all regions of the world, representatives of national, regional and global parliamentary groups.
IPCI/ICPD conferences are organized under the auspices of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
