The new consul of Turkmenistan discussed plans for cooperation with the governor of the Astrakhan region
In the building of the administration of the governor of the Astrakhan region, it was held a meeting between Consul of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation (Astrakhan) Gadam Ilamanov and head of the region Igor Babushkin.
The diplomat presented the governor with a copy of the Consular Exequatur. Igor Babushkin, wishing success to the consul in this post for the benefit of the development of Turkmen-Russian relations, emphasized that Turkmenistan is one of the main foreign partners of the Astrakhan region, with which not only close trade, economic and humanitarian ties have been established, but also strong friendly relations, the Turkmen consulate reported.
The list of areas in which the Astrakhan region cooperates with Turkmenistan is quite wide: logistics, trade, shipbuilding, education, and cultural and educational ties. Among the key projects today is the construction of a logistics center in Turkmenistan. The agenda also includes the development of a regular shipping line between the Astrakhan ports and the port of Turkmenbashi, increasing the volume of mutual trade and expanding the range of cargo.
Another important issue is the holding of events in the Astrakhan region dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi. Throughout the year, poetry evenings, round tables and thematic conferences will be held in the region, in which students of the Astrakhan school named after Magtymguly Fragi and university students, including those who came to study from Turkmenistan, will take part.
Gadam Ilamanov emphasized that there is now enormous potential for expanding ties, and also announced plans to hold meetings with the heads of authorities of the Astrakhan region to outline concrete steps to deepen our partnership.
“We highly appreciate the attention from the leadership of Turkmenistan to the development of our partnership. I count on your assistance in working in all areas of our bilateral cooperation,” Igor Babushkin said.
Gadam Ilamanov was appointed by a decree of the President of Turkmenistan to the post of consul in Astrakhan in February 2024. This consular district includes the Republic of Kalmykia, Krasnodar Territory, Stavropol Territory, Astrakhan Region, Volgograd Region and Rostov Region.
