Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Turkmenistan: Relations between our countries have great prospects
The noticeably intensified contacts at various levels between Turkmenistan and Qatar indicate the intention of the parties to reach a new level of cooperation, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Turkmenistan Hamad bin Rashid Al-Azba noted in his article published in the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan.
Speaking about bilateral relations, the Ambassador, first of all, noted that he was very proud to represent his country in Turkmenistan, with which the State of Qatar has strong friendly relations.
"These relations have been greatly developed recently due to the desire of the leadership of our countries to strengthen cooperation in all areas," the Ambassador stressed.
Turkmenistan and Qatar established diplomatic relations in November 1996, and in 2014 the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Ashgabat was opened. The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Doha opened in March 2023 as part of the state visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
— I would like to note that the heads of our states have a special relationship. In December 2022, the President of Turkmenistan visited Doha at the invitation of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to observe some matches of the FIFA QATAR 2022 World Cup. And in March 2023, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Doha on a state visit and held official talks with the Emir, during which many issues of mutual interest were discussed. Within the framework of this visit, a ceremony of signing important agreements and memoranda of understanding between our countries took place," the diplomat continued.
The Ambassador also recalled that Turkmenistan, among 80 countries, took part in the Expo Qatar 2023 exhibition on agriculture and horticulture, held in Qatar for the first time.
In January 2024, a Turkmen delegation headed by Minister of Culture Atageldi Shamyradov visited the State of Qatar and met with Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdurrahman bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss the development of cultural ties between our countries having common cultural and spiritual values, similar customs and traditions.
— Within the framework of this visit, cultural events were held in Doha on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy, and the residents of Qatar had the opportunity to get acquainted with the literary heritage of this great personality, whose ideas formed the basis of the neutral policy pursued by Turkmenistan today in relations with neighboring states and countries of the world, - said Hamad bin Rashid Al-Azbi.
In February 2024, a Turkmen delegation headed by Education Minister Bayramgul Orazdurdiyeva visited Doha and met with Qatar's Minister of Education and Higher Education Busaina bint Ali Al-Nuaimi, in order to exchange experiences and consider ways to strengthen cooperation in the field of education, in the context of the achievements of the State of Qatar in this field, including the establishment of national universities and the opening of branches international universities. During the visit, the delegation visited the Educational Campus, Qatar University, Doha University of Science and Technology, Lusail University, the Qatar National Museum, the Museum of Islamic Art and the Qatar National Library.
We should also add to this that the ORIENT website of the Media Turkmen news agency and Qatar's largest daily newspaper, Al Sharq, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the exchange of news materials. The signing ceremony took place in Doha on March 18, during a meeting of the heads of the two media outlets.
Observers believe that recently Turkmen-Qatari contacts have noticeably intensified at different levels, which opens up new prospects for cooperation. Relations between the two friendly countries have great prospects, as both Qatar and Turkmenistan are ready to make efforts to develop relations in many areas.
