Issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Regional Commonwealth in the field of communications were discussed in Geneva
Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva, Vepa Khadzhiev, met with Director General of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) Alexey Borodin, who is on a working visit to Geneva.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the RCC, the interstate body for coordinating the CIS in the field of communications and information. The topic of holding major international events in the field of information and communication technologies in Turkmenistan was discussed separately, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.
Priority tasks and practical steps in the communication sphere were considered, both at the national level and in the international arena, which helps promote the coordinated position of the countries of the region in specialized UN agencies - the International Telecommunication Union and the Universal Postal Union. The parties also spoke in favor of holding joint events at the Geneva site.
The issue of expanding the number of members of this regional structure, active cooperation between telecom operators, representatives of research organizations in the communications/ICT industry and other organizations operating in the field of info-communications were discussed.
