The Russian Geographical Society is organizing an archaeological expedition to Turkmenistan


The Russian Geographical Society has announced a competitive selection for the Russian-Turkmen archaeological expedition and invites those interested to go to the village of Meana, 260 km from Ashgabat, in September 2024.
The goals of the expedition, organized by the Institute of the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences, are to study the village of the first farmers and the secrets of their everyday life on the territory of an archaeological site in the foothills of the Kopetdag on the border with Iran.

Expedition participants will gain practical research skills under the guidance of famous archaeologists, as well as experience in group interaction in solving research problems. It is planned to travel to beautiful places, visit interesting archaeological, natural and ethnographic monuments of Turkmenistan.
Duration of work: September 1–30, 2024. Applications will be accepted until May 1. Details on the Russian Geographical Society website.
