The Turkmen delegation took part in the 70th meeting of the United Nations Regional Commission for Europe-Tourism, held on April 8 in Tirana, Albania. UN tourism members are pushing the agenda for Europe as the region leads the global recovery.

European national tourism authorities have met to propose common solutions to the biggest challenges facing tourism, as well as the opportunities offered by the sector's recovery from the pandemic.

The 70th meeting of the UN-Tourism European Commission gathered 40 high-ranking representatives in the Albanian capital. The meeting, attended by almost all UN tourism members in the region, served as a platform for dialogue and cooperation, providing a framework for knowledge sharing, sharing best practices and addressing the challenges and opportunities facing the tourism sector.

The high-level delegations were informed about the work and activities implemented by the UN on Tourism since the meeting of the Commission in Bulgaria in June 2023, as well as about strategic goals and priorities, focusing on the political prospects of the situation in Europe, the rebranding of the World Tourism Organization, the latest data on tourist arrivals, events and initiatives.

In Tirana, members adopted selection criteria and key performance indicators for evaluating projects supported under the Agenda for Europe and agreed on priorities for the development of the work plan of the Agenda for 2024.

The members of the Commission were informed about Georgia's preparations for World Tourism Day 2024, which will become the host country, and accepted Azerbaijan's proposal to hold a meeting of the Commission in 2025 in Baku.

On April 9, the traditional supplementary conference on "Investments in Tourism and Economic Development in Europe" was held.
