Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to establish a joint venture between the railway administrations of the two countries to develop the Trans-Afghan railway route. The agreement was reached during the working visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Khiva, the press service of the administration of the Kazakh leader reports.

The heads of the two countries agreed to provide cargo terminals on the Kazakh-Chinese border and in Uzbekistan on a mutually beneficial basis in order to organize cargo transportation along the China— Kazakhstan — Uzbekistan route.

The initiative is aimed at increasing bilateral trade, increasing the volume of transportation of goods, as well as stimulating cargo transportation in the southern direction.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also discussed with Shavkat Mirziyoyev the issues of accelerating cooperation projects and the implementation of investment agreements and trade contracts.
