Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the head of the upper house of the Parliament of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali


Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on an official visit to Dushanbe, met today, April 4, with Chairman of the National Council of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the city of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali.
Welcoming the distinguished guest, the Speaker of the upper house of the Tajik Parliament noted that today's meeting is a continuation of the constructive dialogue between the two countries. Cooperation and strategic partnership with fraternal Turkmenistan is one of the main priorities of Tajikistan's foreign policy, he stressed.
Rustam Emomali noted Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's worthy contribution to strengthening friendly relations and cooperation between the countries of Central Asia, as well as his constant efforts to strengthen strategic partnership relations between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
The sides noted the effective role of the parliaments of the two countries in ensuring the development of socio-political relations, and also expressed confidence that fruitful interparliamentary ties will give new content to the interstate dialogue.
During the meeting, issues of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere were discussed, including increasing mutual cargo turnover, expanding cooperation in the fields of oil and gas, chemistry, metallurgy, transport, communications and agriculture. At the same time, the important role of the intergovernmental commission in the further expansion of trade and economic relations between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan was emphasized.
The parties expressed their desire to expand cultural and humanitarian contacts, including in the fields of culture, education, science, sports, tourism and healthcare.
The sides also exchanged views on a range of topical issues of a regional and international nature, including the problems of Afghanistan and joint efforts in combating transnational threats and dangers.
