The prospects for Kazakh-Turkmen cooperation were discussed in the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan

Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Astana, Batyr Rejepov, visited the Mazhilis (lower house of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan) on Friday, March 29. Deputies Baktykozha Izmukhambetov and Markhabat Zhaiymbetov met with the diplomat to discuss the prospects for the development of interparliamentary cooperation.
In his welcoming speech, the head of the parliamentary group on interparliamentary cooperation with Turkmenistan, Baktykozha Izmukhambetov, noted that the high level of interaction between the two countries reflects the key interstate document - the Strategic Partnership Agreement. At the same time, the political dialogue between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan is facilitated by the active development of inter-parliamentary relations, the press service of the Mazhilis reports.

Baktykozha Izmukhambetov noted the successful holding of the First Interparliamentary Forum of Central Asia and Russia in May 2022 in Ashgabat. “Kazakhstan fully supports the initiative to launch such an important dialogue. In addition, we are ready to consider the initiative of the Turkmen side to convene the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian countries and Japan,” he said.
In turn, Ambassador Batyr Rejepov emphasized that the intensification of the Kazakh-Turkmen inter-parliamentary dialogue directly serves to progressively increase political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian interaction between the countries, and also contributes to the strengthening of fraternal relations between our peoples.
The parties agreed to consolidate joint efforts to complete the procedure for signing the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborhood and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century. In addition, they discussed other promising areas of interaction between the countries, including deepening cooperation in trade finance, insurance of trade supplies and the transit-transport sector.
