The possibility of establishing a regional training center by the World Customs Organization under the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan was discussed at a meeting of the Turkmen delegation with the new Secretary General of the WCO, Jan Saunders.

The opening of such a training center will be a significant step towards strengthening professional capacity in the field of customs in the region, it was noted at the meeting that took place on Tuesday, March 19, in Brussels, the headquarters of the organization.

Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, who heads the delegation, stressed Turkmenistan's efforts to integrate into international customs systems, including joining key WCO conventions in recent years, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

The issues of participation of representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan in educational and professional development programs of the WCO were also discussed.

Ian Saunders highly appreciated Turkmenistan's initiatives and achievements in the field of customs regulation and expressed the organization's readiness to provide the necessary support and advice for the further development and improvement of the country's customs system.
