Preparations for the meeting of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers on April 12 were discussed in Minsk


A joint meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth member states to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth and the Commission on Economic Affairs under the CIS Economic Council took place on March 19 in Minsk.

The meeting participants formed a draft agenda for the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS, which is scheduled to be held at the end of May. It is expected that the members of the CHG will exchange views in a narrow format on current topics of economic interaction in the Commonwealth. In the expanded format, special attention will be paid to cooperation in the energy, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian fields.

Preparations for the next meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS, which will be held on April 12 in Minsk, were also discussed. The draft agenda for the meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies includes issues related to the current international agenda and cooperation of the ministries of foreign affairs within the CIS, the establishment of a single anniversary medal “80 years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945,” interaction in the humanitarian sphere, and the development of sports and tourism, reports the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

Mikhail Myskin, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee, spoke with information on the implementation of the Roadmap for the implementation of initiatives (in terms of economic cooperation) expressed by the heads of delegations during previous meetings of the CHS, CHG, CMFA and Economic Council.

These initiatives cover various aspects of economic interaction - the formation of a full-fledged free trade zone in the Commonwealth, the removal of obstacles in mutual trade, the development of interaction in the investment, innovation, scientific, technical and monetary and financial spheres, in the field of digitalization and the green economy, as well as support for small and medium-sized businesses, deepening interregional and cross-border cooperation. The heads of delegations paid great attention to cooperation in the fields of transport, energy, industry and agriculture.
