Meeting of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan with the Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia


Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation Esen Aydogdyev met with Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Andrey Malyshev.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current level and promising directions of relations in the field of culture between the two countries.

The main subject of discussion was certain aspects of Turkmen-Russian cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
The parties stated that within the framework of the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Russia, the dynamically developing Turkmen-Russian cooperation, in particular in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, has recently been gaining a positive pace.
Andrey Malyshev said that, as a confirmation of the Russian side’s commitment to the development of relations in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova, accepting the official invitation of the Turkmen side, will take part in the International Conference of Ministers of Culture dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the outstanding Turkmen poet, classic and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi, which will take place on May 17-18, 2024 in Ashgabat.
Regarding the organization of Days of Culture of the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan in October 2024, the Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation especially emphasized the proposal of the Russian side to include in the program of this significant event, in addition to music and dance groups, also performances and meetings of figures from the following cultural fields: cinematographers, composers, artists, sculptors, librarians, museum experts, etc.
Ambassador Esen Aydogdyev informed about large-scale state and international events being held by Turkmenistan this year dedicated to the significant date - the 300th anniversary of the birth of the classic of Turkmen literature, the outstanding poet and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi, in whose honor the year 2024 in Turkmenistan is celebrated under the motto “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi”.
The diplomat especially drew attention to the following events:
a) International Forum of Heads of State and Government dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi, which will be held on October 11, 2024 in Ashgabat;
b) International Conference of Ministers of Culture dedicated to the anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, which will be held on May 17-18, 2024 in Ashgabat;
c) International scientific conference “The contribution of the Turkmen poet, philosopher and thinker of the East Magtymguly Fragi to world literature”, which will be held on April 10, 2024 in Moscow;
d) installation of a bust of Magtymguly Fragi in the atrium of the M.I. Rudomino Library for Foreign Literature in Moscow;
e) installation of a monument to Magtymguly Fragi in one of the central districts of St. Petersburg;
f) issues of organizing in the near future an exhibition of works by Turkmen artists and sculptors in the exhibition center of the Tretyakov Gallery;
i) installation of a monument to F.M. Dostoevsky in the memorial complex near the majestic monument to the thinker Magtymguly Fragi, which will be opened in Ashgabat in June 2024;
j) construction of a new building of the Russian Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin in Ashgabat.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the current level of relations and spoke about the need to make full use of the existing wide potential for cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
