Apple plans to add artificial intelligence features to the iPhone.
For these purposes, it acquired the Canadian startup DarwinAI, which specializes in the development of fast artificial intelligence technologies.
As part of the deal, DarwinAI employees moved to Apple's artificial intelligence technology division. The division is led by University of Waterloo AI researcher Alexander Wang.
Apple is currently developing the iOS 18 operating system, actively adding generative AI-based features to it. New AI features will also appear as part of macOS 15.
Previously, Apple CEO Tim Cook promised that in 2024 Apple would “redefine the future” in the field of artificial intelligence technologies.
