Ashgabat and Vienna step up economic partnership


The Co-Chairs of the Turkmen-Austrian Commission discussed in Vienna the agenda of its upcoming 12th meeting, which is scheduled to be held in the Austrian capital in June.
The Turkmen-Austrian Commission is headed by Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Mergen Gurdov and Director General for Economic Affairs, Innovation and International Policy of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Economy of Austria Florian Frauscher.
The sides exchanged views on the state of trade and economic relations and prospects for business cooperation between the two countries. In this context, the organizational issues of the next meeting of the joint commission were considered.
The meeting was held within the framework of the working visit of the Turkmen delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov to Austria.
The central event of the visit was a round table at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber with the participation of the delegation of Turkmenistan and the heads of 26 Austrian companies.
During the meetings in Vienna, an agreement was also reached on the next visit of the Austrian economic mission to Ashgabat at the end of this year and it was proposed to create the Turkmenistan–Austria Business Council.
