The Turkmen delegation was met at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna
On March 12, a meeting was held at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna with members of the Turkmen delegation – Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev and Rector of the Oguz Han University of Engineering Technologies Gurbanmyrat Mezilov.
During the meeting with Emil Brix, Director of the Vienna Diplomatic Academy, Turkmenistan's active participation in international affairs from a position of positive neutral status was noted. Issues of water diplomacy and climate change were discussed, including in the context of Turkmenistan's initiatives on this issue.
Exchanging views on the prospects of cooperation between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Vienna Diplomatic Academy, the parties focused on the importance of improving teaching methods in the field of studying international relations and diplomacy, geopolitics and economics, considered the possibilities of exchanging young diplomats, internships for teachers and students, and organizing joint courses.
For example, it was proposed to hold lectures and seminars by Austrian experts in the field of preventive, energy, water and digital diplomacy on the basis of the training Center for priority areas of diplomacy of Turkmenistan at the IIR.
During the meeting, a Certificate of admission of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to the International Forum on Diplomatic Training (IFDT) was presented.
IFDT was established by a consortium of academic and diplomatic educational institutions in 1972 as an annual meeting of deans and directors. The forum includes diplomatic academies and institutes of international relations from 56 countries.
The Director of the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna and the permanent Co-Chairman of the IFDT invited the Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to participate in the next, 50th meeting of the Forum, which will be held in the second half of 2024 in Montenegro, Colombia.
