"Oppenheimer" Wins Best Picture at Oscars

Director Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer won the Best Picture category at the 69th Academy Awards. The film was presented in 13 nominations, seven of which won – for best editing, best cinematography, best soundtrack, RIA Novosti source reports.

Among the contenders for the award in this category were “Killers of the Flower Moon” by Martin Scorsese, “Barbie” by Greta Gerwig, “Anatomy of a Fall” by Justine Trieu, “The Leftovers” by Alexander Payne, “American Fiction” by Cord Jefferson, “Maestro” by Bradley Cooper, “Past Lives” by Celine Sohn, “The Lost anf Unfortunate” by Yorgos Lanthimos and “Zone of Interest” by Jonathan Glazer.

The film by Christopher Nolan, who also won Best Director, tells the story of the creator of the atomic bomb, Robert Oppenheimer. The film is based on the book by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin “Oppenheimer. The Triumph and Tragedy of the American Prometheus” and covers the main events of the scientist’s life.

The best actors according to the Oscars, as expected, were Cilian Murphy for the film “Oppenheimer” and Emma Stone for the film “The Lost and Unfortunate”. And Davan Joy Randolph (“The Leftovers”) and Robert Downey Jr. (“Oppenheimer”) as best actress and supporting actor.

The statuette for best original screenplay was awarded to “Anatomy of a Fall” by Justine Trieu and Arthur Harari. The award for Best Adapted Screenplay went to “American Fiction”.

Jonathan Glazer's "Zone of Interest" won Best Foreign Feature Film, while Hayao Miyazaki's "The Boy and the Bird" won Best Animated Film.

Let us remind you that the Academy Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theater on Monday night. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, known as the Oscars, was created in 1929 and honors individuals who have contributed to the advancement of motion pictures.
