Amazon deploys technology for sustainable waste management

Amazon is actively working to reduce the waste generated in its operations. It aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

In this regard, the company, in collaboration with Glacier, is introducing technology to recycle and track packaging after use.

The technology helps determine whether packaging is recycled or ends up as waste. It is based on two key products. The first one is a special robot that is widely used in waste processing plants to sort various materials. The second product is artificial intelligence, which will be used inside Amazon.

Glacier already cooperates with clients from 10 US states.

Amazon said the company used about 97 million kilograms of single-use plastic in its product packaging in 2021.
