The 2nd session of the National People's Congress opened in China


The 2nd session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC is the highest legislative body of China) opened at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi Jinping and other party and government leaders attended the opening of the session. About 3 thousand deputies participate in its work.
At the opening of the session, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang, on behalf of the State Council, made a report on the work of the government.
Highlights of the report on the work of the government submitted to the 2nd session of the 14th NPC:
GDP growth target in 2024: approximately 5%;
Increase in the employed population in cities and towns: more than 12 million people;
Budget deficit in relation to GDP: 3%;
Targeted bonds of local governments: 3.9 trillion yuan;
Issue ultra-long-term special government bonds;
Implement the “Artificial Intelligence Plus” action plan;
Intensify the development of revolutionary and advanced technologies;
Develop activities within the framework of the “Year of Consumption Stimulation” program;
Investment from the central budget: 700 billion yuan;
Expand domestic demand;
Introduce national treatment for enterprises with foreign capital;
Stimulate efforts to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership;
At a high level, expand openness to the outside world;
Address real estate risks and risks associated with local government debt obligations with small and medium-sized financial institutions;
Ensure national security and social stability;
Promote the energy revolution;
Oppose the separatist actions of supporters of "Taiwan independence" and firmly oppose the interference of external forces;
Uphold equality and justice in international relations.
The session will continue until March 10.
