CAREC invites students for the best research contest in the field of rational use of natural resources


The Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC) has announced a student research competition on sustainable natural resource management in Central Asian countries and Afghanistan.
This competition is aimed at creating conditions for the training of young specialists in the water, agricultural, hydrometeorological sectors by encouraging research activity among students.
The competition invites first-year students of magistracy and graduate students in the above specialties from Central Asia and Afghanistan, as well as graduate students of educational institutions having no master's program.
Students outside the region, who are focused on the issues of water, land and energy resources management in the Central Asian region are also invited to the competition.
Under the terms of the competition, the proposed research should be part of the applicant's dissertation and be developed within 10 months or another period agreed with the organizers.
The deadline for submission of applications – 25 May. The registration form is available on the site CAREC www.climate.carececo.org.
The commission, which consists of representatives of the academic circles of the region, will announce the winners until 30 June.
The winners will receive a grant of up to US $ 1,500 to continue scientific research on the selected topic. These funds are provided to pay for the costs associated with laboratory analysis, purchase of reagents, and publication of the abstract.
The jury will pay special attention to such aspects as the relevance and novelty of the research, clarity and validity of the goals of problem selection, methodology, working potential for the Central Asian region, etc.
The competition is sponsored by the Smart Waters project (USAID) and Climate Adaptation and Mitigation Program for Aral Sea Basin (World Bank) projects.
