Energy is the strategic basis for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan

The strategic basis of trade and economic cooperation is partnership in the energy sector, in particular in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project, power transmission lines and fiber-optic communications along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) route. This was discussed at a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on Thursday, February 29, with Ambassador of Pakistan Irfan Ahmed, who was completing his diplomatic mission in the country.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Kurbanov thanked the Ambassador for his contribution to strengthening Turkmen-Pakistani friendly relations and noted that during his tenure, new successes were achieved in bilateral political and economic cooperation.
The diplomats exchanged views on the prospects for further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan.
Irfan Ahmed, who took office as Ambassador of Islamabad to Ashgabat in February 2021, expressed gratitude to his Turkmen colleagues for their assistance and support during his three-year mission in the country.
Ahsan Vahan has been appointed as the new Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkmenistan.
