Belarus is ready to fully participate in the work of the SCO
Belarus is fully ready to join the work of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and fill the structure with new content.
This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Sergei Aleinik during a meeting with Deputy Secretary General of the SCO Nurlan Ermekbayev, who is in Minsk at the head of a mission of observer organizations for the parliamentary elections.
In turn, the Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization said that there is every reason that in the near future the Republic of Belarus will become a full-fledged member state of the SCO.
“Although Belarus is not new to the SCO, it has been an observer state for a long time, and during this time it has proven itself to be no less active than the member states of the organization, making various good proposals and initiatives,” Nurlan Yermekbaev emphasized.
Belarus promptly and effectively completed all the procedures necessary for joining the organization and acceded to all international treaties operating within the SCO. This is expected to happen this summer at the next SCO summit in Astana (Kazakhstan).
