British football fans will be allowed to attend matches in October
Football fans in the UK will be allowed to attend matches from October 2020, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson declared. According to him, test games may take place on August 1, subject to compliance with sanitary measures to respond the coronavirus pandemic. Competitions in some sports, such as football and cricket, will be held without spectators for the time being.
- For several months, millions of us felt devastated due to the inability to go to the match and support our favorite team, attend a first-class sporting event, British Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Sport, Tourism and Heritage Nigel Huddleston said.
According to him, not every club gains profit from sports activities, but it is the fans that are often the lifeblood helping the teams continue to work.
Fans that may have contracted COVID-19 or been in contact with an infected person should refrain from attending the competition. In addition, citizens will be obliged to maintain social distance in the stands. The tournament venues will be equipped with additional hygiene facilities, especially at the entrances and exits.
Over 45 thousand people have died from the coronavirus in the UK. The total number of infected for all the time of the pandemic in the country has been more than 292 thousand people.
