The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan met with his Iranian counterpart in Tehran
Turkmenistan's Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov met with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Ali Bagheri in Tehran on Wednesday.
According to the IRNA Foreign Policy group, Gurbanov and Bagheri discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on ways to expand cooperation between the countries.
The two diplomats also assessed regional and international developments and stressed the need for continued consultations between the two neighboring countries.
Ahmet Gurbanov worked as the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Iran before being appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in December 2023.
Iran and Turkmenistan have a common border with a length of more than 1,000 km.
Tehran and Ashgabat cooperate in the economic, transport, infrastructure and energy sectors, the Iranian news agency notes.
