At a briefing in Brussels, Turkmenistan’s vision of development paths was presented to the European media


At a briefing organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Brussels on Monday, February 12, the head of the diplomatic mission, Sapar Palvanov, outlined the priorities of the foreign and domestic policies of Turkmenistan, highlighted the achievements of 2023, which passed under the banner of “Happy Youth with Arkadag Serdar”, and presented the motto of 2024 in the country “The Fount of Mind of Magtymguly Fragi.”
The event brought together CEOs and editors-in-chief of media not only from the European Union, but also from other countries, including such well-known publications and organizations as EU Reporter, EU Today, Buscardini Communications, Diplomatic World, KazInform from Kazakhstan and Sekai Magazine from Japan. In addition, the briefing attracted the attention of representatives of the diplomatic, academic and research communities of Belgium and the European Union, the European Parliament, which indicates wide interest in the policy directions and cultural initiatives of Turkmenistan.

The briefing provided a detailed overview of Turkmenistan's foreign and domestic political strategy, with an emphasis on the country's commitment to neutrality, peace and global security. Ambassador Palvanov highlighted Turkmenistan's active participation in the development of the Global Security Strategy and its contribution to efforts to ensure regional peace. The importance of Turkmenistan’s initiatives, which led to the adoption of resolutions by the UN General Assembly on peace dialogue and neutrality, was also emphasized.

It was noted that Turkmenistan will continue to promote peace and harmony in Afghanistan, taking into account existing realities, and provide economic, humanitarian and other forms of assistance to the neighboring country and the brotherly Afghan people.
Regarding relations between Turkmenistan and the European Union, the head of the diplomatic mission said that during the Global Gateway forum in January of this year in Brussels, the International Trade Center (ITC) and the European Union (EU) signed an agreement to launch a project in support of the government of Turkmenistan on the path to joining the World Trade organization (WTO).
The EU-Central Asia Transport Investor Forum, recently organized by the European Commission, demonstrated the strong interest of European financial institutions and companies in actively participating in projects aimed at expanding and developing transport networks between the regions, the ambassador said.

A significant part of the briefing was devoted to economic diplomacy, where the ambassador spoke about structural reforms and efforts to diversify the economy of Turkmenistan. He touched on key issues such as energy, the green energy transition and transport diplomacy. In addition, Turkmenistan's announcement at COP28 to join the Global Methane Initiative underscored its commitment to addressing environmental issues.
The briefing also highlighted the country's main achievements in 2023. The Ambassador shared information about the book by the President of Turkmenistan “Youth is the Support of the Motherland,” which reflects the outstanding successes of the country’s youth in a wide variety of areas.

Presenting the motto of 2024 - “The Fount of the Mind of Magtymguly Fragi” in honor of the 300th anniversary of the outstanding thinker and poet of the East Magtymguly Fragi, the Turkmen diplomat emphasized that this initiative is an expression of Turkmenistan’s desire to popularize the heritage of the poet in the world, recognizing his invaluable contribution to the development of not only the national literature, but also the entire East, as well as his significance as a spiritual and cultural mentor.
The briefing ended with a festive chord with a cultural context: guests were invited to taste the national cuisine of Turkmenistan and feel the spirit of traditional hospitality and culinary uniqueness of the country.
