Polling stations will open for voting in the Russian presidential elections in Ashgabat, Turkmenbashi, Turkmenabat, Mary and Dashoguz

Polling stations for voting in the Russian presidential elections will open in the largest cities of Turkmenistan, TASS reports citing the press service of the Russian Embassy in Ashgabat.
“The Embassy agreed with the Turkmen side on the opening for in-person voting on March 17, 2024 of five polling stations in the largest cities of the country - Ashgabat, Turkmenbashi, Turkmenabat, Mary and Dashoguz. Such a scheme will, in our opinion, make it possible to maximally cover Russian citizens living in Turkmenistan who have the right to vote. Low mobility and elderly voters who, for health reasons or other objective reasons, will not be able to personally visit polling stations will not be left out. For this category of citizens, mobile voting at home will be provided on election day, on condition that they submit appropriate applications in advance,” the message says.
Up-to-date information about the procedure and locations of voting will be published in a timely manner on the embassy’s website and on its pages on social networks. The Embassy calls on all Russians to fulfill their civic duty and invites them to visit polling stations.
The diplomatic mission notes that currently tens of thousands of people are registered at the consulate in Turkmenistan. “At the same time, these data may not reflect the real state of affairs, given that, in accordance with Russian legislation, registration and, importantly, removal from consular registration abroad is a purely voluntary procedure,” the embassy noted.
In 2018, over 4 thousand voters took part in the presidential elections in the Russian Federation in Turkmenistan.
The Federation Council of the Russian Federation scheduled elections for March 17, 2024. The Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation decided that voting will last three days: March 15, 16 and 17. Thus, this will be the first three- day presidential election in the Russian Federation.
In total, Russia will open about 300 polling stations abroad for the presidential elections.
