The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan in Ashgabat expressed gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan for sending humanitarian aid

Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan in Ashgabat Azizbek Madmarov expressed great gratitude to the leadership of Turkmenistan and the people of the country for sending humanitarian aid in connection with the accident at the Bishkek thermal power plant. He said this at a meeting with representatives of some media, which took place on Wednesday, February 7, in the building of the Kyrgyz embassy.
The humanitarian cargo in the form of 2,000 tons of liquefied natural gas, donated on the orders of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov by the Turkmengaz state concern to the neighboring state, has already arrived in Bishkek and will be a significant help in solving the problems arising from the accident. The day before, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov called the head of Turkmenistan and thanked him for the provided assistance, noting that Kyrgyzstan feels the support of the fraternal Turkmen people.
Developing this topic, Ambassador Madmarov, in a conversation with journalists, spoke about the traditionally good neighborly relations between Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, the heads of which have established a constant dialogue, thanks to which the countries have reached a qualitatively new level of strategic partnership. He noted successful cooperation in the energy sector.

Turkmenistan supplies Kyrgyzstan with electricity, motor gasoline and aviation kerosene. In addition, the structure of Turkmen exports to Kyrgyzstan includes construction materials, textiles, and agricultural products, for example, tomatoes, which already occupy about 70-80% of the domestic tomato market. Kyrgyzstan sends electrical goods such as incandescent lamps, diodes and semiconductors, and chemical products to Turkmenistan.
In general, trade turnover between the Kyrgyz Republic and Turkmenistan is growing and, according to the ambassador, an amount of about 100 million US dollars is expected in 2023. At the same time, there is still a large untapped potential, as evidenced by the fact that last year the embassy issued a very large number of business visas to citizens of Turkmenistan.
In Kyrgyzstan, business interest in the opportunities of Turkmenistan is also growing. Madmarov recalled that last year more than 20 companies from Kyrgyzstan came to the Turkmen-Kyrgyz business forum in Ashgabat and more than 20 memoranda were concluded. So, according to the diplomat, trade and economic ties between the two countries will only expand.
