A mechanism for the exchange of customs information is being introduced at the border of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan

Turkmen and Uzbek customs officers took part in an on-site training on the implementation of a pilot mechanism for the exchange of preliminary information. Practical training took place at the customs posts “Farap Autoyollary”, Turkmenistan, and “Alat”, Uzbekistan.
The event took place on January 23-25 as part of the UNODC and WCO Global Container Transport Control Programme. The participants from Turkmenistan were members of the Port Control Group of the Farap Autoyollary post and the responsible contact person from the Central Office of the State Customs Service, the department reported.
The training coordinator was WCO international trainer Svetlan Savov. The purpose of the event is to develop skills and test the mechanism for exchanging preliminary information about incoming and outgoing cargo between two port control groups operating at the specified posts.
Expanding information interaction with customs administrations of other countries is one of the important conditions for simplifying customs procedures. Currently, Turkmenistan has established an exchange of preliminary data with the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
