Fedor Konyukhov went on a new journey on camels

Traveler Fyodor Konyukhov began a two-week journey on camels through the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of a Russian-Arab team, TASS reports citing the press service of the International Travel Center of Fyodor Konyukhov. The expedition “Through the Seven Emirates” will pass through the territories of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah, Ajman, Fujairah and Umm al-Quwain.

In total, the traveler will have to travel about 560 km on camels over two weeks. The launch took place in the city of Al Ain in the emirate of Abu Dhabi at dawn. The caravan will move during daylight hours at a speed of 30–40 km per day, with periodic stops for short rest and stops at sunset. Places to spend the night will be ancient Bedouin settlements, covered with sand from migrating dunes as high as a five-story building.

The crossing is part of training for a larger expedition - crossing the Arabian Peninsula from the Persian Gulf through Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea. Also, as part of the expedition, it is planned to hold an exhibition of artistic works by Fyodor Konyukhov in the UAE.

Konyukhov has sufficient experience in organizing caravan expeditions. In 2002, an expedition of more than a thousand kilometers on camels “Following the Great Silk Road” took place in Kalmykia, the Astrakhan and Volgograd regions, Dagestan and the Stavropol Territory. In 2009, together with Mongolian and Kalmyk drivers, Konyukhov crossed Mongolia from east to west. In 2011, he also managed to cross the Danakil Desert in Ethiopia - one of the hottest places on the planet. The caravan covered 1.2 thousand km in 40 days.

He made more than 50 expeditions to the most dangerous and unexplored places on the globe. He set 25 world records, some of which are included in the Guinness Book of Records. He completed four circumnavigations of the world and crossed the Atlantic 17 times. He became the first person on Earth who was able to reach the five poles of our planet: the Northern and Southern geographical poles, the Pole of relative inaccessibility in the Arctic Ocean, Everest (the pole of heights), Cape Horn (the pole of yachtsmen). In addition, he was the first to complete the Adventurers Grand Slam program, consisting of the North and South Poles and the seven peaks of the world, including Everest. He is 72 years old.
