Turkmenistan will join the Convention on the Facilitation of International Maritime Navigation


Turkmenistan intends to join the Convention on the Facilitation of International Maritime Navigation of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This information was announced by Mammethan Chakiyev, Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers, at a meeting of the Turkmen government on Friday, January 26.
Chakiyev reported on the modernization of transport infrastructure in the Seaside Territory, work on expanding the national marine fleet in the Caspian Sea and increasing cargo traffic in the International Port of Turkmenbashi.
Turkmenistan's accession to the Convention on the Facilitation of International Maritime Navigation will contribute to the simplification of maritime navigation procedures and traffic in trade relations with other States.
The Convention on the Facilitation of International Maritime Navigation is an international convention aimed at facilitating maritime navigation by ensuring uniformity of formalities and procedures required by the authorities of the participating States from foreign vessels.
