The signing took place in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan Ken Saito, who also signed the Memorandum on Energy Transition concluded between Turkmenistan and Japan.

According to the document, the two countries will develop cooperation in such areas as energy conservation, renewable energy sources, hydrogen, ammonia, electric fuels, carbon capture, use and storage, measures to counter methane leakage, and highly efficient power generation technologies.

The memorandum says that he will support the development of a roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality. In addition, the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the infrastructure sector between the two countries, signed in 2018 and updated in 2019, will be integrated.
