Huawei launches new version of HarmonyOS, not based on Android

Huawei Technologies Co has introduced a new version of its own operating system, which, unlike the usual HarmonyOS, is not based on Android.

Moreover, HarmonyOS Next will not support Android apps.

At a recent press conference, Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Yu Chengdong said that this version is more convenient to use and works great on a wide variety of devices.

It received an integrated AI model Pangu, working with the MindSpore framework.

HarmonyOS NEXT is created primarily with an eye on the Chinese market.

Huawei first introduced its own operating system as an alternative to Android in August 2019.
