Preparations for the meeting of ministers of the European Union and Central Asia in Turkmenistan were discussed


Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and Vice-President of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, discussed a number of upcoming joint events during negotiations on Wednesday. In this context, attention was paid to the preparation and organization at a high level of the next ministerial meeting in the “European Union-Central Asia” format, planned in Turkmenistan this year, according to a press release of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
Turkmenistan offered to host the next EU-Central Asia ministerial in 2024 during the 19th meeting of the foreign ministers of the Central Asian and EU countries, held last fall in Luxembourg.

Also during today’s meeting, key aspects of Turkmenistan’s cooperation with the EU were discussed, special attention was paid to the areas of security, digitalization, water management, education and transport. An exchange of views took place on the holding of the High-Level Investor Forum on January 29-30 in Brussels.
Also this year, the first high-level political summit Central Asia-EU will take place, which will be held in Uzbekistan.
