Turkmenistan is consulting with the UN on developing a Program for the Development of Social Services

The development of a draft Program for Improving the System of Social Services in Turkmenistan for 2024-2028 became the subject of discussion during a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the participation of heads and representatives of both national departments and public organizations, and UN agencies working in the country.
The consultative meeting was devoted to the preparation of a document on further improvement of the social protection system, as well as key tasks and program measures for the development of the social services system, according to a press release of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Myahri Byashimova noted the fruitfulness of Turkmenistan’s long-term cooperation with UN agencies in identifying medium- and long-term national actions and paid special attention to the results of the joint program to improve the social protection system through the introduction of inclusive quality social services at the local level, signed in December 2019 by the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN. It was noted that during the development of the new national program, the main SDG indicators were implemented into the content of the document.
During the consultations, an exchange of views took place on further cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN in the field of social policy.
