Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan optimize fees and payments for international cargo transportation

Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan intend to optimize fees and charges charged for international cargo transportation, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
On January 10, representatives of the expert working group of the two countries discussed the issues of fees and charges levied during international road transport by carriers of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
At the meeting, held in a videoconference format, the parties agreed to accelerate the signing of an intergovernmental agreement to simplify visa procedures for participants in international cargo transportation through the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
In addition, Turkmenistan intends to study Uzbekistan's experience in switching to the E-permit system, which provides for online exchange of permit forms in real time.
Last June, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan launched a digital cargo transportation system (e-TIR). In particular, this has made it possible to improve and shorten the process of processing goods between countries.
Within the framework of the areas of cooperation discussed at the meeting, the parties identified tasks to be implemented in the future.
