Ashgabat and Dushanbe are considering opportunities to increase trade turnover between the two countries


The state of Turkmen-Tajik relations was discussed in Ashgabat. On Tuesday, January 9, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Akhmed Kurbanov held the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan Vafo Niyatbekzoda.
It was about promoting the agreements reached during the state visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Dushanbe in May 2023 and the decisions of the meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, held in November last year in the Tajik capital.
Diplomats focused on trade and economic cooperation and noted the possibilities of increasing trade turnover between the two countries.
With regard to the development of cultural and humanitarian ties, the need to continue the practice of cross-holding Culture Days was noted.
An exchange of views also took place on the prospects for further cooperation between parliaments and the exchange of visits by parliamentary delegations, according to a press release from the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
