January 04, 2024 | 20:19 |8495
Since 2019, with the support of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus, the almanac of translated literature "Dalyaglyady" ("Horizons"), famous in the last quarter of the twentieth century, has been revived. In total, four magazines were published in the "new era" — in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2023. Usually, each issue presents the national literature of about 20 countries.Since 2019, with the support of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus, the almanac of translated literature "Dalyaglyady" ("Horizons"), famous in the last quarter of the twentieth century, has been revived. Usually, each issue presents the national literature of about 20 countries.

The compilers of the almanac "Distant Views" are Ales Karlyukevich and Viktor Shnip. Turkmen literature traditionally occupies a special place in each issue. The almanac for 2023, translated by Ales Karlyukevich, published the stories of Ahmet Kurbannepesov "Graphoman", Jumageldi Mulkiev "Nest of Swallows", "Shaman", Juma Hudaigulyev "I want to sing!". A large selection of poems is presented in the Belarusian language and the work of the Great Magtymguly — Pyragy, as a sign of the anniversary date of whose birth 2024 was declared the Year of Magtymguly in Turkic-speaking countries. 17 poems of the classic of oriental poetry were translated by the Belarusian master of the word Viktor Shnip.

Work is currently underway to prepare the Horizons'24 almanac. One of the authors of this yearbook, Viktor Shnip, commented on its future content in terms of attention to the Turkmen national literature.

Here is what the writer and translator told the Belarusian newspaper Zvyazda:

"The Turkmen section will also be presented in the new edition. There is a place here for the works already known to the reader of Horizons from previous editions by Jumageldi Mulkiev, Maksat and Komek Kuliyev. We believe that poetry will be presented more widely. In particular, we are going to publish a selection of poems by the national poet of Turkmenistan Kerim Gurbannepesov. He will be 95 years old in 2024. And, of course, new translations of Magtymguly immortal poems."

"We are trying to stir up our young translators and young Turkmen writers. There are prospects for literary friendship in their cooperation for the coming decades," Schnip added.

According to the publication, there is a need to organize a conference or a round table with the participation of Belarusian and Turkmen writers (maybe online) on the topic "The current state of Belarusian-Turkmen literary relations." What was previously published in Horizons is the basis for such a thorough and necessary conversation.
