New Year's gift: a sculpture created by a student was installed in an Ashgabat secondary school

New Year's gifts come in different forms: for children, family and relatives, friends and colleagues... But an Ashgabat schoolboy decided to make a gift to his “native” educational institution. And this is neither more nor less, but an original sculptural composition!
The website “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” reported on the extraordinary event at Ashgabat secondary school No. 72 named after Gurbansoltan Eje.
The grand opening of the 2-meter sculptural composition “Boy and Dolphin” took place on New Year’s Eve in the schoolyard in the presence of all students and teachers. The author of the composition is a student of grade 11 “B” Bally Babaev, who decided to donate his work to the school.
It has the dynamics of the elements and the expression of youthful daydreaming, the freedom that the game gives to children - in the story, a boy plays with a dolphin with a ball. According to Bally himself, the composition symbolizes the unity of man and nature, and he chose the image of a dolphin as a metaphor for goodness and nobility because this animal has had a reputation for saving people at sea since ancient times.
“We are all different, but we live on the same planet and at the same time. So, my sculptural composition “Boy and Dolphin” calls for peace and friendship on Earth,” the publication quotes Bally as saying.

This would be a rather unusual story if not for one fact: Bally is the son of the People’s Artist of Turkmenistan, sculptor Saragt Babayev and the famous ceramist Gulyara Babayeva, which explains the young man’s “genetic” craving for self- expression in the fine arts.
Several years ago, the boy’s artistic talents were noted by professionals at one of the family exhibitions, where a series of Bally’s drawings were also exhibited. Many praised him, advising him to take up painting seriously, he thanked them, but clarified: “I want to become a sculptor.”
The director of the school where Bally studies told the publication that the sculpture “Boy and Dolphin” is not his only work in the school. There are also thematic sculptures created by him for the Turkmen Horse Festival and Alabai Day, as well as a bust of Magtymguly.
