Romania interested in creating a transport corridor with Turkmenistan Caspian Sea – Black Sea
On Thursday, the Embassy of Romania in Ashgabat has celebrated in an official reception the 99th anniversary of National Day. Addressing the guests, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Turkmenistan, Sаrin Vasile Moldovan said: “I take this opportunity to reiterate the special interest that Romania gives to the cooperation with Turkmenistan regarding the operationalization of the Freight Transport Corridor Caspian Sea – Black Sea.” Noting the high economic potential of the two countries, the Ambassador has called Turkmenistan one of Romania's main trading partners in the Central Asian region. Praising the dynamics of the Turkmen-Romanian relations, he stressed “the bilateral agenda has progressively developed, both in the framework of political-diplomatic dialogue, the economical-commercial one, but also regarding the human dimension.” According to the Ambassador, the economical-trade cooperation, determined first of all by the geographic position of two states, contributed to the launch and development of economic, mutual-beneficial projects. “A special attention is paid to the cooperation in the fields of transport and energy”, he added. Touching upon the humanitarian component, Ambassador Moldovan announced the signing in October this year in Bucharest of the next five-year Protocol on cooperation in the field of education. According to this program document, the Romania annually offers scholarships to Turkmen students. The senior diplomat also stressed the close cooperation and mutual support of Turkmenistan and Romania in the framework of international organizations, including the UN and EU. Concluding the speech, Ambassador of Romania congratulated the leadership and people of Turkmenistan on the successful hosting of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in, as well as the upcoming 22nd anniversary of neutrality, wishing wellbeing, peace and prosperity. The Unification Day of Romania or the National Day, traditionally celebrated on 1 December, is one of the main holidays in the national calendar. This remarkable date, originated back to 1918, marks the completion of the formation process of united Romania in its present borders. Turkmenistan and Romania established diplomatic relations in July 1992. Romania was one of the first countries, which recognized independence Turkmenistan's.
