The Asian educational seminar “Chess for children with ASD. Study and teach"


The International Chess Federation (FIDE), together with the Asian Chess Federation and the Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (UAE), with the support of the International Olympic Committee, held the first in-person Asian educational seminar “Chess for children with ASD. Study and teach." The event took place at the Al Ain Convention Center on December 18-19.

More than twenty teachers and chess coaches from 14 countries, including Turkmenistan, as well as Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Pakistan, etc., studied ways of teaching chess to children with autism spectrum disorders, mastered a unique methodological program in this area and received practical skills for working with children with ASD.

The seminar was attended by Secretary General of the Asian Chess Federation Hisham Al-Taher, Executive Director of the Zayed High Organization of People of Determination Abdullah Ismail Alkamali, Project Manager, Deputy Chairman of the FIDE Board Dana Reizniece-Ozola, Project Manager, Chairman of the FIDE World Cup, Chairman of the Social Commission of the Asian Federation chess Anastasia Sorokina, according to the FIDE website.

The speakers at the seminar were experienced educators and specialists in working with children with special needs, experts in child and adolescent psychiatry, and FIDE instructors.
On December 19, FIDE, the Asian Chess Federation and the Zayed Higher organization signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which was a significant step forward in further cooperation and expansion of the partnership within the framework of the Infinite Chess project aimed at teaching chess to children with autism spectrum disorders.
